The November 2009 Newsletter is ready.

In our newsletter this month:

• Planet Longhorn held its traditional Fall Cocktail Party at Aces Lounge on Sixth Street on the evening of Oct 9! Aces Lounge is a burlesque- themed lounge and night club featuring live music on the first floor.
• Over thirteen countries were represented in Planet Longhorn’s International Pumpkin Carving Competition. Each participating country received a pumpkin and a pack of carving utensils on the Orange Tree Patio. When the dust cleared, the French team rose victorious.
• Alumni of the Month: Mariale Colin Betancourt, of Universidad Pontifica de Comillas, Madrid.

This looks like a really cool program! It’s a year-long program comprised of carefully selected students who work together to travel abroad and film a documentary about a highlighted global, social issue. There’s a specific UT chapter and they’re looking for all types of people to not only put together the documentary but to aid the mission in general! Last year, the UT chapter traveled to India. SOW looks like an excellent way to go experience another country while fulfilling a greater cause.

Positions needed include: producer, photographer, graphic designer, journalist, filmmaker, assistant filmmaker/sound supervisor, film interviewer and events/fundraising.

Check out the website for application materials and more information! The deadline is Dec. 7. I’d totally apply if I weren’t graduating in May.

Nothing says America like MORE FOOD THAN YOU COULD EVER WANT!

Join PL for a traditional turkey thanksgiving dinner with a touch of international flavor. We are making this dinner a pot luck so EVERYONE can bring a dish from their country to share (we will take care of the turkey and some traditional American stuff). Can’t think of anything to bring? No worries we have some suggestions:
Drinks, Sides (mashed potatoes, vegetables) and desserts (pumpkin pie)

HEB has a great aisle for all thanksgiving related needs if you need help with ideas.

Please write what you plan to bring on the event wall so we know what to expect, and come with an appetite!

****Also we will be handing out shirts during the Thanksgiving Feast because we are getting them approved, so come get your shirt and something to eat!!****
