For those who didn’t make the informational meeting but are still interested in becoming a Planet Longhorn officer:

Complete the one-page application (print off the link below), and bring it to next week’s meeting (April 27th). Also be prepared to make a 1-2 minutes speech about why you are a good candidate for the position(s) you are running for. There is a limit of 2 positions for which you can run! We will announce the new Fall 2011 officer board at the meeting after that, also the last meeting, on 5/4.

Anyone is encouraged to run regardless of your length of involvement in PL. One of the coolest things about this organization is upward mobility! If you don’t plan on running, we hope you’ll come to vote!

Please come THIS THURSDAY (2/11) and help Planet Longhorn raise money for the Dance Marathon. Some brave individuals have registered to dance for 12 hours next weekend, and this pancake-themed event is the fundraiser, so come! All proceeds will go to Dell Children’s Hospital! It only costs $5 for an unlimited supply of pancakes (mmmmmm….). Not only will the pancakes feel good in your tummy but you will feel good about giving money to a good cause. It’s so good! Location: Corner of 26th and Rio Grande, Tejas House Time: 10:30 PM until 2:30 AM ******VERY IMPORTANT****** When you get to the door please make sure you say you are here for Planet Longhorn or else the money will not go to our team. Thanks so much for helping out, we couldn’t do it without you!

We like to work off the extra calories acquired over the weekend… and Tuesdays…and Thursdays… by playing INTRAMURAL SPORTS every week! Basketball games start this Sunday at 4:30, and we could use some more girl players! No worries if you’ve never played any of these sports before; we’ll be playing in the least competitive division so it’s all for fun! Other sports during the semester include Soccer, Softball, and Water Volleyball. If you haven’t signed up with us yet and are interested in playing any of these sports, please email us at members@planetlonghorn.net with your UT EID!

We also know that meeting Internationals or Americans is a tough job when there is already so much going on. Planet Longhorn is here to help make that easier for you with our BUDDY PROGRAM! If there are any Internationals looking to get to know Americans on a more personal level or vice versa, shoot us an email and we’ll send you an easy application!

Last but definitely not least, we’ll be meeting at pubs and bars around campus and the local Austin area every other Thursday at a new venue to help you discover everything Austin has to offer. If you’re interested in getting messages about where we’ll be meeting, join our brand new facebook group “Planet Longhorn Thursday Cultural Excursions” to get all the details about where we’ll meet and when!

NOTE: Most of these bars are 18 & up so everyone is welcome to come hang out!
