Distinguished Visionary Scholarship
Each May, the Douglas W. Yacek and Paul R. McCloud Distinguished Visionary Scholarship is awarded to a member of Planet Longhorn who demonstrates a unique, concrete vision for the future of Planet Longhorn. The Distinguished Visionary scholarship was created by the founders of Planet Longhorn to inspire members of Planet Longhorn to take an active role in the assessment and improvement of the organization’s direction, progress, and leadership. Planet Longhorn recognizes that a great idea can come from a meeting attendee just as easily as from the president, and as a result, anyone who has attended a Planet Longhorn weekly meeting may apply for this scholarship.
Applicants may have benefited or plan to benefit the organization in some of these ways: attracting new membership, providing new or better services to international students, developing key relationships between other student organizations, liaising with faculty and administrative leadership on campus, seeking out new sources or solidifying sources of income, and most importantly taking the organization in a constructive direction which has not yet been realized by the founders of Planet Longhorn.
