Officers
Liana is a senior triple majoring in Spanish/Portuguese, Latin American Studies, and Government. She studied abroad in Spain in the Summer of 2010. She moved from Brazil when she was 10 and spoke absolutely no English. So, to an extent she knows how it feels to be in a completely different country.
Between trying to fit in all her classes, she enjoys having a good time and meeting new people, hence being part of Planet Longhorn. She loves doing all sorts of things and is always up for trying something new. She’s fluent in Portuguese but will be needing a little help on her Spanish. She loves learning about different cultures, so don’t get a little weirded out if she asks you MANY questions. She looks forward to getting to know everyone!
Katie is a senior (oh god) double-majoring in International Business and Spanish. She studied abroad in the oh so beautiful Sevilla, España during fall 2009, and learned about many things including: no one knows what is actually in paella, “seno” means breast not sinus, and when the Spanish say office hours: 4-6..they really mean officer hours: whenever I finish my siesta. She has also been lucky enough to backpack Europe, play soccer in Norway, and travel northern Thailand for 3 weeks.
Her dad is English, so she shamelessly loves a cup of tea and a chocolate covered Digestive biscuit. Katie’s passions are art, traveling, meeting new people, learning about new cultures, and eating foreign food… like Tex-mex right? She also loves playing sports and watching soccer, so she’d love to watch some games with you! She supports Liverpool, and as Vice President, personally gives you permission to heckle Vanda when she is seen in a Manchester jersey. When she graduates college, she wants to be successful in avoiding corporate life. Naturally Planet Longhorn, in all of its awesomeness, helps her achieve all of these goals, and that is why she loves it! Except for the biscuits that is.

Vanda is the youngest officer of Planet Longhorn being only a mere freshman. She is majoring in public relations with a concentration in sports marketing. Along with that she hopes to also double major in international business by next year. Planet Longhorn is by far the coolest thing Vanda could have ever associated herself with. Vanda has the very tasking and unfortunate role of collecting donations from all you wonderful people at the parties we throw, which we generously provide lots of fun at. She decided to join Planet longhorn because she loves everything international.
In summer 2008 she attended Euro 2008 in Geneva for the entire month; thus, combining her two favorite things: Europe and Football. She proudly supports Manchester United and the England National Team, and if you do too, she’ll love you unconditionally and if you don’t, that’s unfortunate because she’s a great lover. Anyways, be free to ask her anything and if you’re ever in a mood to kick the football around, call/text her up she’s always up for some football fun whether that be watching, playing, or arguing about it.
Maria is half- Swedish & half-Irish (born in Sweden), but chose to forgo European urban glamour for the joys of McKinney suburbia (well-known for its “authentic Croatian Village” and high ratio of teenage pregnancies) in 2002. Fanatic about all things ABBA and way too into puns that make you cringe, she will document your exchange like no one has documented before, as Planet Longhorn Historian. She might not own many burnt orange items, and would rather stab herself in the ear than listen to country music, but she is looking forward to showing you Austin!
Maria is a Marketing/International Business major and discovered Planet Longhorn in the fall of 2009. She goes back to Europe every summer to visit family, and hopes to eventually study abroad in France.

John Michael is a senior majoring in Business and English and minoring in Chinese. In addition to being the webmaster (which is to say, the one preventing Planet Longhorn from otherwise taking over the internet), he can be your cultural liaison to many of the finer cuts of freedom-and-lipid-loving American culture, namely: gourmet hotdogs and sausages, fast-food cheeseburgers, boxed macaroni and cheese, breakfast for dinner, fried butter, krispy kreme, and generative grammar. His other interests include Count Basie, Miley Cyrus, and Korean food.
He’s up for anything, so give him a call.
